PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend a lighting life by suppressing production and growth of a dark spot by expanding a water catching area of a water catching agent, and by enhancing preservation stability of an element. SOLUTION: In this organic EL element 1A, a substrate 2 having an element 6 formed by laminating an organic layer 4 containing a luminescent layer between a pair of electrodes (a positive electrode 3, a negative electrode 5), and the external peripheral part of the substrate 2 and a sealing member 7 disposed opposite to the substrate 2 at a designated interval from the element 6 are adhered and sealed by a sealing film 9 of an adhesive in a dry atmosphere. A recess 7a is formed opposite to the element 6, plural micro recess 7ab are formed on the bottom surface 7aa of the recess 7a, and a particulate water catching agent 11 is adhered through an adhesive resin film 10 along the surface of the micro recess 7ab. |
