<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a good start characteristics with less iron loss of core for smaller size. SOLUTION: This transformer comprises a core 1 provided with a magnetic leg 1A3 forming a second magnetic path magnetically coupled, through a gap, to a first magnetic path 1a closed while comprising a pair of counter magnetic legs 1A1 and 1A1 and a counter magnetic leg 1A1 of the first magnetic path 1a, a pair of secondary coils 2a and 2b which are so wound around the counter magnetic leg 1A1 of the first magnetic path 1a as in differential relationship with a lamp current, with one end connected to the output end of a turn-on circuit while the other end to both holes of a discharge lamp, and a primary coil 3 wound around the magnetic leg 1A3 forming the second magnetic path, with both ends connected between output ends of a start voltage generating means. The magnetic leg 1A3 forming the second magnetic path may be provided between the pair of counter magnetic legs 1A1 or protruded on a rear surface side of the first magnetic path 1a.</p> |
