PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To actualize the address method which enables all combinations of optical states of addressed pixels by independently addressing the pixels without increasing a line address time. SOLUTION: The display device has a group of 1st and 2nd strobe electrodes Si and Si+1 and couples of data electrodes 3a, 3b which cross the 1st and 2nd strobe electrodes and prescribe 1st and 2nd pixels. Respective couples of data electrodes have 1st extended parallel electrode parts 3a and 2nd parallel electrode parts 3b which are present between the 1st electrode parts 3a. This display device has a data voltage source which applies one of N data voltages to the 1st data electrodes and one of the N data voltages to the 2nd data electrodes at the same time so that M different combinations of the data voltages are applied to two column electrodes prescribing columns of pixels. Here, M>N. Consequently, while the data voltage source is requested to provide a less number of different voltages, pixels of two lines can be driven at the same time.
