PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for the monitoring of the insulation of a floating electric circuit, in which the insulation of the floating electric circuit can be monitored even when the voltage of a detection signal is low. SOLUTION: A signal power supply 11 whose frequency is different from the frequency of a floating electric circuit P1 and that of a floating electric circuit P2 and a high resistor 10 are connected across the floating electric circuits P1, P2 and the ground E. Only a current which flows by its signal is separated and fetched. The whole impedance across the electric circuits and the ground is measured. Since the impedance is different from an impedance which is obtained by the frequency of the electric circuits, it is separated into a resistance portion and a capacitance portion by computing means 30 so as to be converted into an impedance at the frequency of the electric circuits, and the impedance is monitored.
