PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmitter for the probing of a strand in a cable, by which a signal easily reaches the end of the strand in the cable and which can be miniaturized. SOLUTION: This transmitter transmits a signal at a prescribed frequency to a strand in a cable in order to probe a specific strand out of a plurality of strands in the cable in an arbitrary place in the cable. A DC voltage from a battery 1 is boosted to a prescribed voltage by a boosting circuit 3. An oscillation circuit 7 receives the boosted voltage, and it supplies an oscillation signal at a prescribed frequency to the strand in the cable to be probed at prescribed intervals.
