PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device by which the optimum sampling timing is obtained for an arbitrary specific portion of a specified display area or an entire area. SOLUTION: A dot clock reproducing circuit 102 generates dot clock signalsΦsynchronized with horizontal synchronizing signals Hsy of inputted picture signals Sv and having the frequency that is an integer multiple of the signal Hsy. A control circuit 104 counts the signalsΦand controls the amount of the delay of the signalsΦin accordance with vertical and horizontal position values outputted from vertical and horizontal counters and a liquid crystal display module 105 displays a picture by the outputted signals.
