PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical chopper which is capable of reducing the cost, long in service life, and high in performance. SOLUTION: An optical chopper is provided with a rotary shaft 10 provided in the direction orthogonal to an optical path L, a plate body 11 which is fitted to the rotary shaft 10 and magnetized, and an electromagnet 12 capable of supplying the magnetism to attract the plate body 11 to the angleα1 of rotation to open at least the optical path L, and to attract the plate body 11 to the angleα2 of rotation to shut off the optical path L. When the current flows in a coil 12b, a status pin 12a is magnetized, and the plate body 11 is attracted to interrupt the optical path.
