PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it easy for an operator to grasp a fault state by editing information on the detected fault to a necessary irreducible amount by a computer system and suppressing the overhead of a communication load, etc. SOLUTION: A fault detecting function 40 detects a fault occurring to fault occurrence source computers 10-1 to 10-N and reports fault information to a fault information gathering and reporting daemon 80-1. The daemon 80-1 retrieves fault information of the same kind from a fault information data base 80-2, gathers the details of the fault information from the computers 10-1 to 10-N if the information is not found, and registers them in a fault information data base together with the fault information. When fault information of the same kind is found, the fault information is used as a key to edit the information in the fault information data base 80-2 according to the information of a deleted information data base 80-3 and a priority order data base 80-4. The daemon 80-1 after processing all reported fault information informs the fault report destination computers 30-1 to 30-N of the information of the fault information data base 80-2.
