PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a loading device to easily measure the operating characteristics of various types of auxiliary devices by one device, in a loading device used at the time of detecting the operating characteristics of auxiliary devices for steering automobile. SOLUTION: The loading device is provided with loading means 11 and 31 with load transferring members 13 and 33 provided in such a sway as to be movable in directions coming into contact with and being separated from an output shaft 202 to come into contact with the end faces of the output shaft 202 to transfer load and biasing members 15 and 35 to bring load into action on the load transferring members 13 and 33. The loading device is also provided with driving means 18 and 38 to move the loading means 11 and 31 in a directions coming into contact with and being separated from the output shaft 202, first location detecting means 26, 46, and 4a to detect the location of the load transferring members 13 and 33, second location detection means 20, 40, and 4b to detect the location of the output shaft 202, and a control means 4c to control the operation of the driving means 18 and 38. By moving the loading means 11 and 31, it is possible to change the spring coefficients of the biasing members 15 and 35 in appearance.
