PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce cost required for image capturing and copy prevention of a forging protected material and to facilitate management by concentrating a processing related to forgery prevention at one location. SOLUTION: In an information processing system, where a host PC11 and picture input devices such as a scanner 12 and an MFP 13 are connected via an IEEE 1394 network, image data obtained by reading a document by the image input device is presented to the host PC11 via a network 14. The host PC11 decides whether presented image data corresponds to a copy protected material or not, and when it is decided that presented image data corresponds to a copy protected material, inhibition of its output is indicated to the image input device as the image data presenting source via the network 14. In response to the indication of output inhibition inputted via the network 14, the image input device stops output processing such as printing of this image data and abandons data.
