PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a loading nut from abraded and damaged such as a crack by specifying the hardness of one end face opposite to an elastic body and the hardness of a calking deformation part formed in the other end face respectively out of axial both ends of the loading nut threadly engaged and fixed to a part of a rotary shaft. SOLUTION: In a toroidal type continuously variable transmission, the rotation of an input-side disc 2A is transmitted to an output-side disc 2B via a pair of power rollers 8 and, when changing the rotation speed ratio between the input and output sides, a pair of trunnions 6 are displaced inversely by a drive piston. In the loading nut 38b supporting one side of a coned disk spring 39a which buffers and supports an input-side disc 2A relative to an input shaft 15a, the hardness of the outer circumferential face part of the small-diameter part 47, one end face of a brim part 52 opposite to the coned disk spring 39a, and the end face in the small-diameter part 47 side is set to HRc 45 or more. The hardness of a calking cylinder part 51 formed in the other end face is set to HRc 30 or less so as to prevent the nut 38b from being abraded.
