PURPOSE: An upper shelf is provided to interface a 622Mbps ATM exchange and an ADSL subscriber modem. CONSTITUTION: An upper shelf for realizing 622Mbps interface of a digital subscriber line access multiplexer(DSLAM) comprises an ATM network matching board(100) and a plurality of subscriber matching shelf interface boards(30). The subscriber matching shelf interface boards(30) are connected to the ATM network matching board(100) through a cell bus(200). The ATM network matching board(100) consists of a 622Mbps data processing section(120), a 622Mbps optical module(110), first to fourth cell bus interface sections(142-148), and an ATM multiplexer(130). Each of the cell bus interface sections(142-148) receives an ATM cell from the cell bus(200) on which the ATM cell are loaded, and passes only an ATM cell of a corresponding address. Each of the cell bus interface sections(142-148) receives an ATM cell from the ATM multiplexer(130) to endow a specific address to the received cell. The data processing part(120) receives the ATM cell multiplexed from the multiplexer(130), and converts the received cell into serial data. The data processing part(120) receives the serial data from the optical module(110), and extracts an ATM cell from the serial data to send the extracted ATM cell to the multiplexer(130). The optical module(110) receives the serial data from the data processing section(120), and converts an electric signal of the received data into an optical signal. The optical module(110) converts an optical signal from an ATM exchange into an electrical signal in order to send the serial data to the data processing part(120).
