PURPOSE: An agent for neutralizing acidic industrial wastewater is provided, which is characterized in that a specific powder made of quicklime and sodium hydrate is provided for coagulating as well as neutralizing. CONSTITUTION: Quicklime is added to water which includes sodium hydrate, and mixed to form mixture, Ca(OH)2-NaOH. The quicklime has 70 - 95 % of purity, and the size of the particle does not important. But because the powder agent is crushed after reacting with the sodium hydrate, small and fine powder is appropriate. Sodium hydrate in liquid state is appropriate, and 3 - 68% of water solution is better. When the concentration is less than 3 %, the effect for neutralizing is slight, and when the concentration is above 70 %, the agent is too sensitive to temperature so that coagulated at a low temperature.
