PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce access delay due to a defective sector by arranging the spare area in the inner peripheral side from the user area, dividing the data recording area into plural zones, and recording in the disk information area the logical sector number allocated to the leading sector in each zone, among the sectors with logical sector number allocated. SOLUTION: A DVD-RAM disk is such that the spare area 7 and the user area 6 are divided into zones 0, 1. In this case, as a result of the allocation of logical sector numbers (LSN) by means of a broken line 2212, if one block is arranged across a guard area 2001, LSN is allocated in the direction with LSN increasing by the fraction of the block arranged in the zone 1. Then, LSN allocated to the leading sector of the zones 0, 1 are stored in the disk information area. Consequently, a high-speed access is possible to the leading sector in the zones 0, 1 without calculation. |
