PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the stability of conductive connection by forming angular protrusions on the surface of a conductive spacer to concentrate pressure to the protrusions. SOLUTION: A sealing material 16 mixed with a conductive spacer 17 is inserted between substrates 11, 12 having transparent electrodes 13, 14, respectively. The conductive spacer 17 has angular protrusions 17A on its surface. By forming the protrusions 17A into an angular form, pressure is easily concentrated in a hot-press process to result in stable conductive connection. As for the conductive spacer 17, a polymer resin such as a polystyrene polymer, ceramics such as glass and silicon oxide, carbon, and metals can be used, and a metal coating film such as Au, Ni, Cu is applied on the surface to give conductivity. The shell form of the conductive spacer 17 may be a sphere, cylinder, polyhedron or polggonal prism, and a sphere is preferably used.
