PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an electrode into a fine shape, without using a mask and without lowering its performance along with a luminescent layer. SOLUTION: An anode electrode 2 is formed on a transparent glass base 1, an electrode layer 4 is formed so as to cover the upper surface of an EL layer 3 after the EL layer 3 is formed so as to cover this anode electrode 2, and a cathode electrode 5 is formed into a designated shape by dividing the electrode layer 4 by irradiation of a laser beam. Therefore, a gap between the cathode electrodes 5 can be formed into one having a width equivalent to the diameter of the laser beam without using a mask used in the past, and thereby, the cathode electrode 5 can be formed into a fine shape without lowering its performance along with the EL layer 3.
