PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a power supply switch drive circuit which a reduces mean electric power consumption during remote control standby with a power supply turned off, and takes safety into consideration. SOLUTION: In this power switch drive circuit, an AC power source of a power terminal 1 is supplied to a power supply transformer 3 through a power supply switch 2, capable of being driven not only manually but also by electromagnetic force for a power switch drive plunger 2b, the power transformer 3 drops the AC power voltage, a rectifying circuit 4 rectifies the dropped AC voltage, and a capacitor charging circuit 5 charges a capacitor C1 for storing plunger drive charges. A capacitor C2 backs up a power source for a microcomputer 7 and a remote control light receiver 8. When the microcomputer 7 receives a power-on indication when power is off, the microcomputer 7 drives the power switch drive plunger 2b for a short time, to close the switch 2 (2a) through a power switch plunger drive circuit 9. At that time, because a diode D3 stops the operation of the capacitor charging circuit 5, the power switch drive plunger 2b is driven with only the charges in the capacitor C1.
