PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focusing mechanism of a telescope capable of preventing a focusing barrel from slipping down by a compact and simple mechanism. SOLUTION: In a focusing mechanism of a rack and pinion telescope having a first rack 6a provided on a focusing barrel to move a focusing barrel 3 parallel to the optical axis and a first pinion 4a provided on a focusing barrel frame 2, a second rack 6b provided at the position opposite to the first rack 6a, and a second pinion 4b to be commonly engaged therewith is arranged on the focusing barrel 2 between the first and second racks opposite to each other, a counterweight 8 connected to be balanced with the self-weight of the focusing barrel is provided on the second rack, and slide mechanisms 7a, 7b to move the second rack 6b parallel to the optical axis is provided on the focusing barrel frame. |
