PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera system which can make a suitable preview display for each camera body even when the same interchangeable lens is attached to a camera body for silver salt film photographing or a camera body for electronic image pickup. SOLUTION: A camera system has an interchangeable lens 200 having a preview switch 205 for starting a prescribed preview function, a camera body 1 to which the lens 200 can be attached and which is exclusively used for silver salt films, and a digital camera body 100 to which the lens 200 can be attached and which makes prescribed preview control and is exclusively used for electronic image pickup. The system is constituted in such a way that the preview control makes displaying operations as a preview function when the switch 205 is operated.
