PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a display panel having EL elements with excellent luminous characteristics individually, and having a small interval between the EL elements each other. SOLUTION: In this manufacturing method for a display panel, plural EL elements are individually isolated by an insulating barrier rib, at an isolating layer having an isolated part in its component layer, the barrier rib having a slender groove and an irregular surface like a cauliflower is formed, and the isolated part is formed in the isolating layer by forming the barrier plate from plural member having different coefficients of linear expansion. Also, the isolated part is formed in the isolating layer by irradiating a high-energy wave on the barrier rib to divide it after forming the isolating layer, and by forming a contractile material on the isolating layer. By these methods, the isolated part can be easily formed.
