PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket for an electrical component enabling the width of wiping by a movable-side contact part to be lengthened. SOLUTION: This socket for an electrical component has a socket body 13 for placing an IC package as 'an electric component' thereon and a contact pin 15 mounted on the socket body 13, and the contact pin 15 is equipped with a movable contact piece 15c having a movable-side contact part 15h making contact with and parting from a terminal of the IC package. A protrusion 15k as 'a curved part' is formed on a fixed-side contact part 15d as 'a seating part' for seating the movable-side contact part 15h thereon with the IC package not placed on the socket body 13, and the movable-side contact part 15h is adapted to slide along the protrusion 15k.
