<p>A parking control system in which a mobile telephone is used to commence and terminate parking of a vehicle. A user sends at least one user specific code to a receiving computer (6) of said parking system at the commencement and termination of a parking period, wherewith the parking system is informed of the parking zone (20-30) concerned. A machine-readable vehicle specific code is stored in said computer (6) and tied to the user specific code. The system includes a control unit (1) which is adapted to read the vehicle specific code and to establish communication with said computer (6). The invention is characterised in that when the control unit (1) requests information concerning vehicles parked within a parking zone (20) through said communication, the computer sends corresponding information relating to one or more parking zones (21-30) that are geographically close to the parking zone in question at the same time as it sends the requested information to said control unit.</p> |
