PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a pickup from vibrating in a sled for transfer, in the case where it is detected reaching a track for deceleration while being accelerated, by moving the pickup constantly at the current transfer speed and then subsequently reducing the speed as prescribed at the point of time coincident with an ideal reduction curve. SOLUTION: With an acceleration starting command TRG inputted, and with the number of tracks for moving before starting deceleration inputted in the target track register 13, the control circuit 10 accelerates a sled 4 through an actuator 5 and starts the track jump. When the target number of tracks are reached during the acceleration, a comparator circuit 12 makes a comparison between the ideal speed from the ideal speed detection circuit 11 and the actual speed from the speed detection circuit 9, outputting to the control circuit when the actual speed runs up to the same level as the ideal speed or higher. The control circuit 10 maintains the actual speed while the ideal speed is above the actual speed, and decelerates the sled 4 upon the output of the comparator circuit 12.
