PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the housing capacity of sheets of a recording medium and to permit smooth insertion/removal by providing a housing means for housing a recording medium in an separate space sectioned by a partition wall, a transporting means for carrying the recording medium in and out of the separate space, and a deforming means for displacing the partition wall so that the entrance of the separate space opens in accordance with a positional relation between the transporting means and the storing means. SOLUTION: The housing 10 of the recording medium reproducing device contains a transporting part 20, a housing part (housing means) 30, a reproducing part 40, a partition wall opening part (opening means) 60, a control part 50, and a part 37 for raising/lowering the storing means. The partition wall opening means 60 consists of a thrusting driving part and a partition wall opening lever with a wedge-shaped tip end, and is arranged on the side wall face 200, 201 of the transporting part 20. The transporting part 20 carries a CD 1 in and out of a storage space 375 sectioned by the partition wall 301 of the storage part 30. In this case, the control part 50 actuates the thrust driving part, advancing the partition wall opening lever at a prescribed distance in the direction of the partition wall 301, and opening the pair of partition walls 301 with the tip end of the lever.
