PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element capable of effectively suppressing deterioration of an element with age such as lowering of luminance due to a progress of driving time, production and expansion of a dark spot, and maintaining initial performance for a long time, and manufacturable at a low cost with a simple sealing process. SOLUTION: This organic EL element has a base 1, an organic EL structural body 2 formed on the base 1 and a sealing plate 3 to seal the organic EL structural body 2, and a mixture of a desiccant and a high polymer organic compound having a coefficient of water absorption of not more than 1.0% by ASTM D 570 under the condition of 24 hours and 23 deg.C is disposed on the internal surface of the sealing plate 3. The high polymer compound is soluble in hydrocarbon or halogenated hydrocarbon solution. |
