Coins (4), round tallies etc are changed in shape or size when fed into the gap (18) between two profiled rollers (1,1a), the profiling such as to destroy totally or in part the original face and/or impression on the flat faces. Localized deformation of the coins fed into the gap (18) increases their dimension normal to the flat face in respect of the original coin. The roller profile can also modify the coin rim. The coins enter the gap at an angle to the axis of rotation of the two coupled rollers (1,1a), the rollers profiled normal to the direction in which the coins run through. The roller profiles engage one another in the gap (18) so as to form a zee walling. The profiles can consist of fluting parallel to their center axis on bevel etc gearwheels, using sharp-edged flutes to make profile impressions on each edge as it passes.
