PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electric wire covering device using a take-up housing type band plate pipey member capable of being compactly housed, being easily subjected to work execution, and excellent in maintenance. SOLUTION: A bobbin 8 and a reel 4 are provided on a stand 1. An electric wire 7 is wound up around the bobbin 8, while a band plate pipe 3 is wound up around the reel 4 in a flat state in the plate width direction. When the band plate pipe 3 is wound off from the reel 4, the band plate pipe 3 is deformed into a pipe shape due to curling in the plate width direction, so that the wire 7 wound off from the bobbin 8 is paid out with the wire 7 housed into and covered with the band plate pipe 3.
