PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon dioxide sensor element, capable of preventing the sharp reduction of electromotive force, even if it is left intact in the high- moisture concentration atmosphere, such as the high-humidity atmosphere or the dew condensation atmosphere by forming a working electrode layer and a reference electrode layer on the surface of a solid electrolyte layer containing Li2Si2O5. SOLUTION: Powder of Li2CO3 or SiO2 is mixed by ball milling to prepare the synthetic raw material powder of a solid electrolyte, or metal alkoxide such as LiOCH3 or Si(OC2H5)4 is mixed, and it is hydrolyzed and dried as the generally employed method. When a synthetic raw material powder is baked in the temperature range of 400-1,300 deg.C, Li2Si2O5 can be synthesized. The synthesized solid electrolyte powder is molded by pressing such as uniaxial pressing or isotropic hydrostatic pressure pressing, then it is sintered into a green sheet through sintering. After the solid electrolyte powder is molded, it is heated and sintered in the temperature range of 500-1,500 deg.C, thus a solid electrolyte layer 2 containing Li2Si2O5 can be obtained. |
