A method of producing a stone material for submerging into water, comprising the steps of preparing a mixture consisting of a granular slag generated in a steel production process, applying carbonization treatment to the mixture to form carbonates and aggregating the mixture into a mass by using the resulting carbonates as a binder. A stone material for submerging into water produced by this method is used for submerging into seas and rivers and for growing a submarine forest.
