The invented insulating material with maximum operating temperature 900 degC or higher is formed by glass fibers containing silicon dioxide, calcium oxide and magnesium oxide, whereby the fibers contain more than 58 percent by weight silicon dioxide provided, the content of magnesium oxide is less than 10 percent by weight and more than 58 + (%MgO-10) percent by weight silicon dioxide when the amount of magnesium oxide is greater than 1 percent by weight, up to 42 percent by weight calcium oxide, up to 31.33 percent by weight magnesium oxide and less then 3.97 percent by weight aluminium oxide.
