<p>An method and apparatus 10 for welding a plurality of parts comprises a plural pair of jigs 28, with a corresponding jig standby region 14, a plurality of heating plates 21, a working region 11, a heating-plate stocker 15, a heating-plate standby region 12, and a heating plate slider 25. The pairs of jigs 28 support a plurality of, preferably synthetic resin, parts and each pair of jigs have a shape different from another pair of jigs. The heating plates 21 correspond to and co-operate with the shape of each pair of jigs 28. The jig standby region 14 is used to heat the jigs 28, in their mated form, until they are required in the working region 11, at which point they are slid into position via a set of rotating balls 30c, separated from each other and are made ready to receive the parts to be welded. The heating-plate stocker 15 stocks and heats the heating plates 21, which, when required, are slid out of the stocker 15 into the heating-plate standby region 12 by the heating-plate slider 25. The standby region 12 is used to heat the heating plates 21 and to allow them to be moved into the working region 11 to cooperate with the correspondingly shaped jigs 28 for welding the parts. The parts are then welded in a manner similar to that which is already well known.</p> |
