PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a printing quality of an OD or the like and fix at high speed when any of a print medium with a coat layer and an ordinary paper is used in ink jet printing. SOLUTION: An ordinary paper mode for printing to ordinary papers and a special medium mode for printing to special media having coat layers formed thereto are set. In the ordinary paper mode, a Bk ink which uses both a self dispersion type pigment and a dye as a coloring material is discharged form a head 101Bk, and then a process liquid which insolubilizes the coloring material and has high permeation properties is discharged from a head 101S. On the other hand, in the special medium mode, only the Bk ink from the head 101Bk is discharged and the process liquid is not discharged from the head 101S. |
