PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the weight of a pneumatic run flat tire without decreasing run flat travel performance. SOLUTION: Mounting a pneumatic run flat tire 14 with a rum diameter larger than of a standard pneumatic tire 104 prescribed in a vehicle specification lowers and thins a side reinforcement rubber layer made mainly of a hard rubber layer provided at a side wall in proportion to a increase in the structural side rigidity of the tire due to the enlarged rim diameter RD1 and the lowered tire height compared with a tire with a side reinforcement mean provided to a tire with the same size as that of the standard pneumatic tire. Thus, the decrease of travel fuel consumption performance caused by the increase of the tire weight due to the application of the side reinforcement rubber layer can be improved. |
