PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain glass fibers having superior properties of coating, superior flying property, oil removability and suitability to bundling by carrying out coating with a sizing agent containing starch and an alkyl polyoxyethylene ether or an alkylphenyl polyoxyethylene ether. SOLUTION: The starch may be ordinary raw starch such as cornstarch, high-amylose starch, a starch hydrolyzate subjected to oxidation treatment or a chemically modified starch derivative. The starch content is 2.0-10 wt.%. The alkyl polyoxyethylene ether is, e.g. polyoxyethylene lauryl ether. The alkylphenyl polyoxyethylene ether is, e.g. polyoxyethylene nonylphenyl ether. The ether content is 0.1-1.0 wt.%. The HLB of the ethers is preferably 8-16.
