PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus which can speedily inform a user of a state in which a command not conforming to a type of a head is input. SOLUTION: The recording apparatus which can selectively record and read judges which of a recording head 6 and a reading head 7 is set, analyzes whether a transmitted operation command is a command related to a recording operation or a command related to a read operation, judges whether or not the command conforms to the head set at present, and makes a display part 11 or a buzzer 12 as a notifying means carry out a predetermined notification operation if the command does not conform to the head.
