PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hair growth suppressor, capable of effectively suppressing the growth of the hair, and capable of decreasing the number of depilation treatments, and further to obtain a cosmetic containing the inhibitor. SOLUTION: This hair growth suppressor contains a steroid selected from cyproterone, 5α-androstene-3α, 17β-diol, medroxyprogesterone, norethisterone and mestanolone, or a derivative thereof, and one or more kinds of extract of a crude medicine selected from Scutellaria baicalensis, Lithospermum erythrorhizon, Lycopersicon esculentum, and Hedera helix as active ingredients.
