<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material management method and a material management device which can carry out an accurate identification management on material such as steel and the like. SOLUTION: Right after printing is made on the end face of steel material 11, the printed characters are photographed for obtaining first image information to recognize the characters from the first image information. When no character is recognized, the first image information of the picture of the characters is stored in place of the characters. After that, the characters for the steel material 11 is photographed again in an inspection process to obtain second image information to recognize the characters from the second image information. When no character can be recognized, comparison should be made between the first image information is compared with the second one to recognize which steel material 11 the second image information indicates. By this constitution, an identification management on the steel material can be surely carried out.</p> |
