PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a helmet capable of being compactified at the time when the helmet is not used, such as the carrying time. SOLUTION: A shell member 2 which forms the external shape is formed out of separate three layers in the vertical direction, and the connection means which consist of mutually detachable engaging projections 4 and engaging grooves 5 which are mutually engaged to each other by approaching to each other, are formed at the opposing edges of the shell member substrates 2a, 2b, and 2c which are plural layers obtained by separating the shell member 2 to provide the objective helmet.
