PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a masking device which can be adopted even to a cylinder block and V-engine block having journal parts and is used for the surface treatment of the cylinder block. SOLUTION: The masking device of the cylinder block 1 for sealing a treating liquid when subjecting a cylinder bore surface 2 formed in communication with the internal space of the crank case part 4 to a surface treatment has a crank case part rear surface masking jig 51 for masking the general surface of the crank case part 4 and a journal part masking jig 52 which is mounted at the crank case part rear surface masking jig 51 and masks the journal part 6. The entire part of the rear surface of the crank case part 4 is masked by both of these masking jigs 51 and 52.
