PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To assure sufficient solubility for a coating solvent which does not affect a polycarbonate board and to improve recording/reproducing characteristics by providing a recording layer capable of recording and reproducing according to a light having a specific wavelength and containing one or more types of chelate compounds of a specific dye and metal. SOLUTION: The recording medium 10 comprises recording layers 13, 23 and reflecting layers 14, 24 on boards 12, 22 with recording and reproducing lights having a wavelength of 690 nm or below, and records by forming pores called 'pits' by emitting the light. In this case, the layers 13, 23 each contains a chelate compound (azo metal complex dye) of an azo dye represented by the formula and metal. In the formula X1, X2 are each a group having an active hydrogen, R1, R2 are each hydrogen or an alkyl, R3 to R5 are each a monovalent group selected from hydrogen, an alkyl and a halogen atom, and R6 to R9 are each a monovalent group selected from hydrogen, a halogen atom and a hydroxy group. |
