The invention concerns a method and a device for controlling conformity of a flat support (1) with respect to a specific model (3) containing at least a visual marking which consists in comparing respectively the image of the content of the flat support (1) with that (31) of said model (3) by subtraction using a central processing unit (5). The invention is characterised in that it consists in: recording in the central processing (5) storage unit said images (2, 31) read by a scanner (4) directly controlled by the central processing unit (5); first positioning said flat support (1) on the surface of said scanner (4) window (9) by a first rapid scanning before acquiring the image (2) with a second high resolution scanning limited to a reduced surface of the window (9) at least equal to that of the flat support (1) to be controlled.
