PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sucrose-containing cultured tomato having good cultivation suitability and giving a fruit having excellent taste, color and appearance by hybridizing a wild tomato containing sucrose in the fruit with a cultured tomato and treating under a specific condition. SOLUTION: The objective tomato is produced by (i) hybridizing a wild tomato containing sucrose in the fruit with a cultured tomato, (ii) hybridizing the hybridized species with a cultured tomato, (iii) carrying out DNA amplification reaction using a primer containing a part of the sequence of the base number 1-1905 in the formula and a primer having a part of sequence complimentary to the sequence of the base number 1,906-2,372 using a chromosome DNA of the hybridized species produced by the step (ii) as a template and selecting a hybridized species giving the amplified product having a size specific to the invertase gene of the wild species tomato, (iv) hybridizing the selected hybridized species with a cultured tomato and (v) repeating the steps (iii) and (iv), accumulating sucrose in the fruit and selecting a tomato having the character of cultured tomato. |
