PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating material capable of reducing poor coating and to be used in a die coater intended for subjecting metallic web surface to continuous coating operation, and to provide a method for preparing such coating material. SOLUTION: This coating material is such one as to be used in die coater intended for subjecting the surface of a metallic web W to coating through a die 1 disposed against a backup roll 2, adjusted to 50-5,000 cP in viscosity and to <=150μm in the particle size of its solid component. The other objective method for preparing this coating material is such one as to prepare it in the process for feeding it to the die coater, comprising filtering it through a bag filter 6 with a mesh rate of 40-120μm disposed on the entrance of the die 1.
