PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cargo handling vehicle that can secure its cargo handling gear in an intermediate lift position at any time. SOLUTION: A cargo handling gear 10 installed on a vehicle body 1 comprises pivots 12 vertically controllable relative to the vehicle body 1 via lift cylinders 14, a deck part 11 turnable on the pivots 12, turning cylinders 15 interposed between the vehicle body 1 and the deck part 11, and travel detecting means 16 and 17 for the respective cylinders 14 and 15. Upon an intermediate stop operation from a control part 19 at an arbitrary time, the detection of the travel detecting means 16 and 17 is referred to so that all the cylinders 14 and 15 are stopped or fixed in an intermediate telescoping position, which helps to broaden the field of view during backing travel than that with the cylinders 14 and 15 fixed in an elevated position.
