PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cleaning clothes in wet states, capable of preventing the generation of the shrinkage, deformation, fuzzing, etc., of the clothes, even when the clothes are cleaned in a large amount in a cleaning factory, etc. SOLUTION: This wet cleaning method comprises a classifying process, a cleaning process, a rinsing process and a processing process. Therein, the cleaning process, the rinsing process and the processing process use water or an aqueous cleaning agent, and are carried out on the basis of a water level and a water temperature predetermined on the classified clothes and on the basis of a recycling operation in which shaking operations for shaking the clothes in a cleaning tank and stopping operations for stopping the shaking operations are repeated. At least the cleaning process is carried out at 15-40 deg.C, and each of the stopping operations is carried out for an operation time of 2-20 times that of each of the shaking operations.
