PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method to stably produce fine particles of a metal carbonate suitable for the production of a lithium compound oxide or the like to be used as a positive pole of a lithium secondary cell. SOLUTION: The metal to produce a carbonate is used as an anode and is subjected to electrolytic treatment using a soln. prepared by adding carbonate ion or hydrogen-carbonate ion to the supporting electrolyte as an electrolytic soln. Or, the electrolytic treatment is performed by using a supporting electrolyte into which carbonate ion or hydrogen-carbonate ion is incorporated as required as by blowing carbonic acid gas into the electrolyte liquid. Thus, a metal carbonate, for example, having <=10 μm median diameter is produced. |
