PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new angiotensin I converting enzyme inhibitory peptide derived from a biomass, having high safety, useful for a hypotensive agent, a vasodilator, etc., by making the peptide include a specific amino acid sequence. SOLUTION: This angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitory peptide is shown by an amino acid sequence of the formula Thr-Tyr-Leu-Gly-Ser. The angiotensin I converting enzyme inhibitory peptide is obtained, for example, by hydrolyzing a wheat embryo bud with an α-amylase, deactivating an enzyme, filtering the resultant substance and fractionating the hydrolyzed solution obtained by the filtration by using a reversed phase column. Preferably an angiotensin I converting enzyme inhibitor or food is prepared by making the inhibitor or food include the peptide. The dose of the peptide is preferably 0.1-100 mg per adult daily. |
