PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diamino compound suitable for producing a polyimide resin capable of forming an aligned liquid crystal film providing a liquid crystal display element, its intermediate and their production process. SOLUTION: The objective diamino compound expressed by formula III (A1 is H or a 1-12C alkyl; A2 is single bond or a 1-5C alkylene; one or non-adjacent arbitrary methylene groups may be replaced with oxygen atoms; X is Br or Cl; (m) is 0-3; (n) is 1-5) can be produced by carrying out Friedel-Crafts reaction of a cyclohexylbenzene derivative of formula I with an acid halide of formula II and nitrating and reducing the obtained cyclohexylphenylcarbonyl compound.
