PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically and continuously move a carriage without causing variation to a clearance between the carriage and a peripheral face of an endless material to be welded by providing an auto moving carriage having drive wheels rolled on a peripheral face of an arclike welded material, and a belt wound on the peripheral face, whose both ends are linked with both ends in the moving direction of the auto moving carriage respectively to support a plurality of wheels. SOLUTION: When a pipe 27 is welded by an auto moving carriage device 1, drive wheels 5, 5... are brought into contact with a peripheral face of the pipe 27 in a direction for moving the auto moving carriage 2 in a peripheral direction of the pipe 27. Under such a condition, a timing belt 6 is positioned in a form to be wound around the pipe 27 from the side opposite to the side of the auto moving carriage 2 position, and a linking tool 11 and a fastening tool 17 are linked with the auto moving carriage 2, so that wheels 20, 20... supported by the belt 6 are brought into tight contact with the peripheral face of the pipe 27. When the drive wheels 5, 5... are driven by a drive motor built in a carriage main body 3, the drive wheels 5, 5... are moved directly on the peripheral face of the pipe 27, resulting in a stable operation.
