<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound which is an insoluble azo pigment represented by a specific formula, having clarity and a hue of a strong purple tint and useful as a printing ink composition for offset printing, etc. SOLUTION: This compound is represented by formula I [R1 is a lower alkyl; R2 is H or a (substituted)phenyl] or a solvated substance thereof, e.g. a compound represented by formula II. Furthermore, the above compound is preferably obtained by diazotizing an aniline derivative represented by formula III as a diazo component and carrying out a diazo coupling of the resultant diazonium compound with a 2-hydroxy-3-(4-chlorophenylcarbamoyl)naphthalene represented by formula IV as a coupler component according to a conventional method. The compound represented by formula I is preferably used alone or, as necessary, mixed with a carrier such as a surface treating agent and preferably used as an azo pigment.</p> |
